Improving traffic flow and traffic congestion

We want a common-sense approach to traffic management, which has got worse and worse in recent years.

We would like to see the Magic Roundabout remodelled, the Cheddar Recycling Centre relocated to a nearby location, a potential one-way system in Axbridge and an average speed camera on the Axbridge bypass.

It has also long been our ambition to secure a footpath along Cross Lane.

Improving traffic flow takes some of the headache out of local journeys and contributes to better road safety.

Between 2017 and 2022, Somerset Conservatives filled 100,000 potholes and started an ambitious road improvement programme. Now we want to see an increase in road safety and proper investment in our rural buses. We believe that this is possible without a drastic rise in Council Tax.
