There will be no waste collections tomorrow (Friday 18th February) in light of the risks posed by Storm Eunice, so please don't put any bins out. All schools within the Wessex Learning Trust have also decided not to open, and will be offering remote learning instead. Please check with your school if you haven't heard.
The Met Office has issued a Red Warning for a large area, including the Cheddar Valley, meaning the potential for:-
- Flying debris resulting in danger to life
- Damage to buildings and homes, with roofs blown off and power lines brought down
- Uprooted trees are likely
- Roads, bridges and railway lines closed, with delays and cancellations to bus, train, ferry services and flights
- Power cuts affecting other services, such as mobile phone coverage
- Large waves and beach material being thrown onto coastal roads, sea fronts and homes, including flooding of some coastal properties
