Nobody is in any doubt that we have a problem with fly-tipping in the Axevale ward and across other parts of Sedgemoor, especially along verges and in the rhynes. Graham Godwin-Pearson is keen to tackle the issue and is working with other councillors to introduce more bins and signage.
He says,"I believe that people are more likely to dump their rubbish when they see rubbish already dumped, so reducing the problem and staying on top of individual areas will help to dissuade people from offloading their waste onto the countryside.
"It's particularly disappointing given the money invested in recycling and waste services in Sedgemoor."
This week, Graham has liaised with other councillors to remove waste from between Rooksbridge and Tarnock.
He continues, "If you see someone fly-tipping, and it's safe to do so, try to photograph them in the act, so that we can crack down."
