Graham Godwin-Pearson is a Conservative campaigner in the Cheddar Valley and Axevale area, covering Cheddar, Shipham, Axbridge, Compton Bishop and Cross, Weare and Lower Weare, Badgworth and the Allertons, Brinscombe, Alston Sutton, Biddisham and Tarnock. Graham was elected in May 2019 as the Sedgemoor District Councillor for Axevale, where he also sat on the Community Scrutiny committee and Grants sub-committee and was Quarry Liaison for Batts Combe.
Graham has long been a campaigner on environmental issues and worked closely with IFAW, Tusk & others on the protection of species & habitats, including spending time in the Congo Basin researching and supporting Great Ape conservation charities.
Locally, his priorities include:
- Improving road safety and pedestrian and cycle access,
- Collecting more kerbside recycling, especially plastics, reducing roadside waste, promoting litter picks, adding bins and tackling pollution,
- Common sense with planning, while meeting affordable homes quotas with high quality housing,
- Better facilities, especially for young families, and improving broadband, while minimising the disruption of installation
Graham's campaigns include improving road safety on the A38, completing the Strawberry Line and working towards a footpath along Cross Lane, to connect up Axbridge and Cross.
He is a school governor and lives locally with his young family.
