Cllr Graham Godwin-Pearson and Jeff Savage have met with Cheddar residents to talk about ways to reduce anti-social behaviour in Cheddar Gorge.
For years, residents have been concerned by noisy drivers in and around the Gorge at certain times, causing disruption and driving dangerously, putting lives at risk.
Jeff and Graham are committed to finding solutions to address the problem. They are already in communication with Conservative Police and Crime Commissioner Mark Shelford about measures such as:-
- Closing the Gorge to traffic at certain times over the weekend
- Encouraging community events in the Gorge to replace impromptu car gatherings
- Installing noise cameras to penalise drivers with deliberately noisy cars
Graham says, "The Gorge is an asset to our community and yet at certain times, people are afraid to visit because of a small minority of motorists.
"Our plans will cut anti-social behaviour and improve the Gorge for everyone's benefit."
