A few years ago, Local Councillors Andrew Gilling and Bob Filmer became aware that the Milepost in East Brent had been badly damaged and then practically destroyed by a flail, when the verges were being cut.
Andrew said, "Bob and I took this up with the County Highways authority and it has taken a long time to see this milepost restored to it's former glory." A lot of people have been involved including; the County Council, District Council Conservation Officer, the Parish Council, South West Heritage Trust, Dorothea Restorations and others!. Bob added, "It didn't stop there, a review of the other Mileposts heading north along the A38 was carried out and these too have been restored and in some cases slightly moved to make them more noticeable and less likely to be damaged in the future. Helping to make our heritage more visible and protecting it for the future".
