Following the elections for the new Somerset Unitary Authority on Thursday, Graham and Jeff made the following statement:-
"Jeff and I were both disappointed not to be elected to become the councillors that will represent the Cheddar Valley. After a long and mostly positive campaign, the result didn’t go the way we wanted, by a very fine margin.
"After months of speaking to local residents, we developed a thorough, costed manifesto for the area, to tackle transport issues, curb the growth of new housing developments, support businesses, make progress towards Net Zero and improve biodiversity, and more than the result, we are disappointed that we won’t be able to deliver these pledges.
“We will both continue to do what we can to help our communities."
“We would like to thank all of the people who voted for us, despite the headlines emanating from Westminster and we wish the new councillors all the very the best of luck."
