Caerphilly, Stafford and even New York have cheese festivals, which bring in visitors, tourism, celebrity chefs and press coverage. And yet we don't have a dedicated cheese festival in Cheddar, the village that gave its name to the cheese.
Without taking anything away from the fantastic, annual Cheddar Food and Drink Festival, we believe that Cheddar should have its own Cheddar Cheese Festival each summer.
If elected, Cllr Graham Godwin-Pearson and Jeff Savage will work with Cheddar businesses and the media to create an event in the future.
Jeff says, "A community event like this will draw people to the village, spending money with local businesses and enjoying our beautiful area. It will bring together people to celebrate the food named after our village."
